The 3rd Plymouth Urban Tree Festival is done and what a fantastic 9 days it was!

This year’s festival was the biggest and best so far and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who organised an event, volunteered or attended something. It was a tree-mendous, massive collaborative effort and brought together local experts, artists, groups and organisations.

If you attended, please fill in this short feedback form!

We would also like to say a big thank you to the Plymouth and South Devon Community Forest who funded the organising and many of the events, which meant that we could make lots of them free or more affordable!

This year the Plymouth Urban Tree Festival hosted almost 40 events, at venues all over the city. There were nearly 1,500 attendees to the various events and lots of amazingly generous people clocked up a total of nearly 500 hours volunteering time!

An extra special thank you to Fi Smart who produced the stunning lino-cut designs for the t-shirts and bags and The Almanac for hosting not 1 but 2 exhibitions!

So what went on?

Lots of fantastic folk music, singing events, storytelling and performances, as well as Dome forest bathing and film.

A few firm favourites came back, like a Rebel Botanist walk, yoga, tree climbing, Matt’s bats, the dawn chorus walks and of course the fab Tree’s a Crowd event, which was bigger and better than last year!

Lots of incredible artists got involved in the PUTF art exhibition at The Almanac and loads of you joined in with ‘Where’s that tree to?’ at the exhibition, on Instagram and on Facebook.

And visitors to our Instagram account topped 40,000 views in the month of May!

Volunteers hosted 5 guided walks as well as dawn chorus walks, lichen walks, tours of Poole Farm and a pinhole photography walk.

And there were plenty of opportunities to get crafty, making wooden jewellery, things out of willow, tree crowns, whittling spoons, printing t shirts and making ceramic leaves.

We would also like to thank all the volunteer PTP Tree Wardens and Trustees who helped out, Snapdragons, Matt Bisco, Amanita Grove, Ju Claxton, Simon Blackbourn, John Robson, Poole Farm, Real Ideas, Plymouth Arts Cinema, Tulgey Woods & Tippy Orchard, Plymouth Marjon University, Jenny Floyd, Union Street Corner, Plymouth Collage Collective, The T Shirt & Sweatshirt Company, Andrew Young, Andrew Godden, Collings Park Community Trust, Joanna at Whitleigh Community Trust, Holly Ebony, Cat Rose, Mav Digital, Vegware, Plymouth Lichen Group, Michelle Finlay, The Rebel Botanists, Lynne Sears, Mary Toon, Jackie K and Ian, Keith Tarrant, Low Carbon Web, Ralph Nel, The Plymouth Climate Choir, The Plymouth Community Choir, Central Park Golf, Ocean Studios, West Devon Art Workshops, Fiona Nichols, Jasmine Fassenfelt, Gin Farrow-Jones, Dan Wilson, Anna Christie, Kathy Wray, Gloria Dixon, Emma Jones, Jan Knight, Dave Curno, Simply Outdoors, RebalanceU, Graham Titchmarsh, Matt Underwood, Louise Henry, Kelsey Michael, Lily Thompson, Jon Nash, Daisy Higman & Fynn Roberts, Creative Curiosities, Nicola Westlake, Plymouth Natural Grid, Jo Ballard and her singing group, The Old Town Twelves, Joe Webster, Ramblin’ Folk Photography, Cafe Momus and anyone else we have forgotten!

Hopefully see you next year!
