On a dry, sunny but bitterly cold day, 7 members of the mobile team gathered in Freedom Park on the first Thursday of February. Together with the Tree Wardens of Freedom Park, the task for today was to inspect the avenue of horse chestnut trees and to adjust the supports as required.
Splitting into two teams, all set to work, removing tree guards and stakes, with a little pruning here and there.
In a couple of hours, the work was done and the team have a real sense of achievement.
This park is well used by the community and the trees were planted in 2012. They are doing well and are a credit to the ongoing care provided by Jacques Marchal and Bernard Todkill, Tree Wardens for the park.
