Family Tree Scheme
|
 |
The Family Tree Scheme started with its first plantings in a rough grassy area behind the Home Park football stadium in 2004. Today, the area is host to a beautiful young arboretum with specimen trees from around the world each planted according to their continent of origin.
All this has been made possible by people giving trees to mark a family or special occasion. Their donations are recorded in a book held in the Parks Services' office in Outland Road. Volunteers help to plant the trees on the last Saturday in November during National Tree Week. Tree care is spread across the year with the main event taking place on the last Saturday in July during Love Parks Week.

You are invited to contribute by:
- Donating a tree. Click here to find out how.
- Meeting at the Family Tree Site in Central Park between 9.30 am and noon on the last Saturday in November and the last Saturday in July to help with digging and spreading wood-chip mulch around the trees. It's just like gardening - perfect for exercise and fresh air!
