Trees and the Mayflower 400 by Heather Barriball
Wednesday 11th October 2017 at 7.00 pm. Room 002, Babbage Centre, Plymouth University
Heather has researched local trees with an American connection for a new tree trail to celebrate Mayflower 400 in 2020. She will present her work so far and then invite discussion on how best to mark this important event.
Plymouth’s Newest Park by Chris Avent
Wednesday 8th November 2017 at 7.00 pm. Room 002, Babbage Centre, Plymouth University
A new country park and city farm is being created below Derriford Hospital. Project Manager Chris Avent is going to explain why the new park and farm are needed, what it will look like and how it will work.
Folklore of British Trees by Dr Martin Blacher
Wednesday 6th December 2017 at 7.00 pm. Room 002, Babbage Centre, Plymouth University
British trees are rich in folklore including oak, hazel, rowan, holly and elder. Martin will explore how the ideas arose and help us understand what we can learn from them today.
